Skins should announce new coach this week
February 4, 2008
The Redskins expect to have a new coach in place by the end of the week. And last night’s Super Bowl won’t play a role in deciding who will, or won’t, get the job.
They will interview New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo on Tuesday in Washington, according to a team source.
One team source said there is no front-runner, though the bulk of the speculation centers on former Giants coach Jim Fassel. Most peg him as the favorite to land the position.
However, owner Dan Snyder told the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Arizona that, “I really like Ron Meeks.” The Indianapolis defensive coordinator has interviewed twice for the position.
Former San Francisco and Detroit coach Steve Mariucci interviewed last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, former Redskins assistant head coach/defense Gregg Williams will interview in Dallas. The Cowboys run a 3-4 front; Williams mostly has coached a 4-3 front. But it’s likely Williams would be considered for an assistant head coach/linebackers position.

Moss Teammate Taylor in Critical Condition
November 26, 2007
Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was in critical condition after he was shot at his Florida home Monday, police said.
Taylor
Miami-Dade County police officers were dispatched to Taylor’s home at about 1:45 a.m. and found him shot. He was then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. He didn’t know where on Taylor’s body he was shot.
The Miami Herald reported paramedics found Taylor with a gunshot wound to the groin. A family friend who did not want to be identified told ABC-TV 10 in Miami that Taylor was shot twice.
A brief statement from the Redskins said Taylor was undergoing treatment at the Miami hospital and that police were investigating. His family has asked that no information about his condition be released at this point, said hospital spokeswoman Lorraine Nelson.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Taylor family.
Skins Building House with Solid Foundation
September 23, 2007
“We just have to continue to build ourselves up,” Redskins receiver Santana Moss said. “You cannot build a mansion totally with just wood. You have to also build it with bricks, so that when the foundation is put down, you end up with a nice house.”

Moss Rebounds Against Eagles
September 17, 2007
In the opener against Miami, Santana Moss and Chris Cooley combined to catch just three passes for 28 yards. Though the Redskins won in overtime against the suspect Dolphins, Moss was furious at himself after suffering two uncharacteristic drops. And Cooley, such a crucial part of the team’s offense over the last three seasons, caught just one pass for 10 yards against a Miami defense that wanted to make quarterback Jason Campbell prove he could beat it downfield.
Last night both rebounded from that sluggish start, combining to catch eight passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in the 20-12 victory at Philadelphia.
Both did most of their damage in a first half that saw Campbell and Moss savage backup cornerback William James.
